Tea cabinet, called chadansu, from the 1920s-30s. Chadansu literally means "tea cabinet." A lightweight, asymmetrical piece designed to display and store tea-related items. The front features a play of wood grain and geometric rigor, representative of the Taisho Roman style (the equivalent of European Art Deco). The front has a natural patina. The top shows some wear - the sides have minor dents and scratches. This piece embodies "wabi sabi," a concept cherished by the Japanese: it is an aesthetic principle derived from Zen Buddhist ideals of simplicity and utility. It easily integrates into a contemporary or minimalist interior. Feel free to ask questions. PLEASE NOTE, I will be unavailable in August - I cannot deliver in August!!! 80.5 cm width // 97 cm height // 29 cm depth.
