This tea cabinet (chadansu) is made of burl veneer. Work around 1950, in art deco spirit - Uprights in medlar wood. Left side moving shelf in s (poetic allusion to the steam coming out of a tea kettle). Veneer front - two sliding glass doors - we note a combination of shelves, drawers, curved doors. The joints of the uprights are rounded into dovetails. The furniture is fully doweled. Circa 1950 - style inspired by European art deco. We talk about the “taisho roman” style, equivalent to “roaring twenties”. Condition: numerous scratches, scratches, stains, wear on surfaces and edges. Varnish wear. Photo a: impacts on the drawers - chip under drawer shelf - impact on door - ring handles have been changed. In places small cracks in the veneers of the slippers. A glass door is missing the button. Photo b - traces of use inside the compartments - a perforation next to the slides on the right side. Phots c and d: numerous marks and wear on the uprights. Although this piece of furniture has been well-used, it is totally functional and usable - it can be disassembled into two blocks - It is "wabi sabi", according to the Japanese concept: "wabi" which means, simplicity, melancholy, asymmetry, nature; with “sabi” which is the alteration of time, the taste of aged things, the patina of objects.
