This tea cabinet (chadansu) is made of burl veneer. Work circa 1950, art deco style - uprights in medlar wood. Left side shelf in an s shape (poetic allusion to the steam coming out of a tea kettle). Veneer front - two sliding glass doors - we note a play of combination of shelves, drawers, curved doors. The joints of the uprights are rounded in dovetails. The cabinet is entirely doweled. Circa 1950 - style inspired by european art deco. We speak of "taisho roman" style, equivalent to "roaring twenties". Condition: numerous scratches, shocks, scratches, stains, wear of surfaces and edges. Wear to the varnish. Photo a: impacts on the drawers - chip under drawer shelf - impact on door - the ring handles have been changed. In places small cracks in the veneers of the slides. The knob is missing from a glass door. Photo b - traces of use inside the compartments - a perforation next to the right-hand side slides. Photos c and d: numerous marks and wear on the uprights. Although having lived well, this piece of furniture is fully functional and usable - it can be dismantled into two blocks - it is "wabi sabi", according to the japanese concept: "wabi" which means simplicity, melancholy, asymmetry, nature; with "sabi" which is the alteration of time, the taste for aged things, the patina of objects. Weight approximately 25 kg.
