AAZ Art Deco Sugar Bowl, Silver-Plated Brass, Fraget, Poland, 1920s

The Fraget sugar bowl from the 1920s is an example of Polish Art Deco craftsmanship, made of silver-plated brass in a Warsaw workshop. The oval body with softly rounded edges, subtly raised lid with a leaf-shaped handle, and three stylized legs – also inspired by leaf motifs – are characteristic elements of this era. The cool, muted silver color with a matte finish emphasizes the decorative yet functional nature of the item. Visible joints, carefully crafted details, and solid construction confirm attention to every aspect of execution. The surface bears clear patina and minor signs of use, while there are no serious structural damages or dents. Kept in very good condition, with authentic signs of the passage of time. The shape of this sugar bowl evokes the atmosphere of interwar Warsaw – a time when items combining modernity with tradition appeared on tables. The leaf motif, present in both the lid handle and the legs, tells of a fascination with nature that permeated Art Deco, while the soft shine of silver seems to carry a silent story of past tea gatherings. Patina and delicate signs of use make it not only a functional item but also a discreet witness of everyday rituals and family histories. The sugar bowl can be displayed on a table in the living room or dining room as an element of a classic service, pairing it with period porcelain or linen napkins. It will also serve as a singular accent on a dresser in the office, where its subtle form and cool sheen will introduce a tone of decorative restraint. It is worth combining it with minimalist tableware or using it in a decor dominated by matte, dark surfaces, allowing details of the finish to stand out and emphasize its noble lineage.
