Sofa ercol windsor 2 places refurbished in its original finish. Newly upholstered with a "loop" fabric. This piece is in good vintage condition. It has been completely refurbished and the straps are new. The frame is solid and sturdy. There are some scratches, scratches and marks, which is normal with age, but nothing too noticeable. Fabric and foam are new. Ercol is a furniture manufacturer that has been creating quality wooden furniture since the 1920s, specializing in bentwood chairs and furniture. In 1989, italian-born lucian ercolani (1888-1976) migrated with his parents to england and settled in london. His father, who built the frames for the uffizi gallery in florence, found work as a carpenter with the salvation army in london. Following in his father's footsteps, lucian ercolani studied drawing and design at the shoreditch technical institute, before taking the city & guild exam in theory and furniture construction. In 1907, he made his first piece of furniture, a musical storage unit. At university, he met ted gomme, the man who would later found g-plan, with whom he developed a long friendship that survived their professional cooperation until 1920. In 1910, lucian ercolani was hired by the influential harry parker at high wycombe of frederick parker furniture, later known as parker-knoll. Ten years later, thanks to the investment of a local businessman, lucian ercolani founded funiture industries in high wycombe, buckinghmshire, the company that would later become ercol. Its goal is to market well-designed furniture, made by highly skilled craftsmen who take pride in their work. Ercol was successful, and the business expanded in 1932 when lucian ercolani purchased walter skulls ltd., a struggling but respected manufacturer.
