Basilius besler's lanche belonging to one of the first 20 copies of the hortus heystettensis on watermarked paper from 1613. The book the hortus eystettensis by basilius besler is one of the first botanical books and the most expensive of the early seventeenth century, it had 367 plates representing more than 1, 000 plants and flowers, organized by season. The book was first published in 1613 in 300 copies including deluxe issues without text printed on the back of this plate and commercial numbers on both sides. Copies of the 1613 only 20 copies are printed on watermarked paper. The hortus will be reprinted from the original plates in 1640 and 1750. Unfortunately, there are few full copies of the book. The boards being torn off is sold individually. Plate no. 264 depicts the herb of saint christopher actaea spicata and the filipendula vulgaris. The board is sold with its frame, but personally I would see it in a thinner wooden frame. Dimensions: passepartout 52×61 cm, board 40, 7×49 cm, frame 60×70 cm.
