Antique sea urchin pencil on turned wooden base, 22 cm

Superb specimen of naturalized pencil sea urchin, mounted on a turned wooden base with a brass rod. This ancient specimen is distinguished by its long, cylindrical radioles, finely striated, with a marbled appearance ranging from brown to beige, with sometimes orange ends. The whole, in very good condition, measures 18 cm high by 22 cm wide (base included). The radioles are well preserved, thick, rigid and harmoniously arranged around the central test, covered with tiny calcareous plates typical of the species. The carved wooden base has beautiful brown shades and ensures perfect stability to the piece. Rare and elegant decorative object, perfect for enriching a collection of marine curiosities or adorning a naturalist-style interior.
