Raku, short for the japanese term raku-yaki, is the result of an enamelling technique developed in 16th century japan. A technique favoured by do-nogues, the raku cooking being violent (the temperature of the oven rises to 980 degrees in less than 40 minutes), it chooses the sandstone for its resistance. The dullness of the blacks (due to the smoke) that contrast with the velvetiness of the white enamel, enhanced by the "weaving" (the thin network of "capillaries" due to thermal shock), gives his sculptures a strange beauty, which she defines as: "an imaginary that never ceases to enrich itself from the perception of the observer.".
