Landscape Painting Oil On Canvas By Paul-Auguste Masui

Date: 1970 this large oil painting on canvas represents a stylized abstract landscape in autumnal shades of ochres, browns and reds. It is signed lower left “pa masui 70”. Paul-auguste masui (1888-1981) was a belgian artist born in differdange, luxembourg, and died in uccle-brussels, belgium, where he spent most of his life. He began his artistic career with etchings and lithographs, after which he moved to pastels and watercolors. In the 1920s he created his first oil paintings, which often had a luminous quality. His work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions and tends to fetch relatively high prices at auction. Condition: sold without frame. There is a scratch (see photo) in the sky part; the canvas is not pierced. Dimensions: 60.5 cm high X 72 cm wide.
