Ensemble Thonet viennese secession early 20th century

Rare set of 4 secessionist seats thonet, I.e. 2 chairs and two chairs. The no. 493 appears for the first time in the supplement of thonet's 1907 catalogue, completes the range of no. 491 and 492 with quadrangular but "rounded" curved wood sections, and presents instead of a medallion a plywood cut out as on no.s 459 and 471; typical motif of the viennese secession, in the shape of arrows or spears, others seeing instead stylized tulips. Geometric or organic artifact, primitive or ethnic artifact. It was at kohn that the first "arrow" sets with koloman moser, gustav siegel, were found at the beginning of the 20th century, and we note that a motif very similar to that of our thonet 493 appeared just before 1910 on chair 394 or kohn's no.476 chair, which has long been attributed to otto.wagner. (competition between the two firms was raging!). For the rest, there are the feet "queen anne" - the anglo-saxon taste also part of the secessionist crucible (see model no. 519 of the capua café by aldolf loos), and a hooped link descending well along the back foot, slightly countercurrent towards the end. The edition bears the label 1919 ca de thonet, who became czechoslovakian after the great war; it is certainly the last year of production of the model 493, the last of which appeared in the catalogue in 1914, it is not included in the known and subsequent catalogues of 1920s. --- good condition in the find juice, original mahogany tint thinning towards the cherry tree in the natural places of use, some stigmas of lived and small usual repairs, well melted in the patina. Cannages redone recently, all with 6 manual threads.
