Art Deco Bohemian Amber Cased Glass Vase, Northern Bohemia, circa 1930. Hand-blown Bohemian glass vase in amber cased glass, produced in Northern Bohemia (Czech Republic) circa 1930. Thick-walled construction with a clear outer casing over a saturated amber core, creating pronounced optical depth and a warm internal glow. Vertically oriented, tapered form with a subtly flared rim and a faceted, ground and polished base. The surface is acid-polished and fire-finished, balancing clarity with soft transitions across the planes while preserving the geometric profile. The weight and density are consistent with high-quality interwar Bohemian production. The form and material treatment align with Art Deco design principles—symmetry, vertical emphasis, and architectural restraint. Northern Bohemian glassworks, including Josef Inwald (Rudolfova Huť) and Franz Welz, were central to the development of modern decorative glass in the interwar period. Building on a centuries-old regional glassmaking tradition, these manufacturers combined technical innovation with progressive design, producing sculptural cased glass objects for both domestic and export markets. Amber cased glass of this type was particularly valued for its ability to modulate light and color within a simplified, modernist vocabulary. Excellent condition. Retains original “Bohemia” provenance label. A minute scratch beneath the label not affecting the overall appearance. Height: 35 cm (13.8 in) Width: 18 cm (7.1 in) Depth: 10 cm (3.9 in) Weight: 2.9 kg (6.4 lbs) Northern Bohemia (Czech Republic), circa 1930s.
