Mathieu Matégot is a Hungarian designer and artist of French origin, born on April 4, 1910 and died on February 7, 2001. He is best known for his furniture creations and decorative objects which marked 20th century design. Matégot is famous for his innovative use of perforated metal and the flexible material called "rigitulle" that he developed himself. His works are often characterized by organic lines, geometric shapes and a light and airy aesthetic. He has also worked in other fields such as tapestry, ceramics and interior architecture. Mathieu Matégot has contributed significantly to the modern design movement and his creations continue to influence contemporary designers.
