Description
Large bowl / dish in enamelled stoneware "blue hennaff". Born in poland (krakow) in 1922 into the polish upper middle class, danuta drobniakowna received a careful education. In 1939, poland was invaded by the germans in the west and by the russians in the east. In order not to "get into the nazi trucks", danuta learns the art of ceramics and discovers his passion. In 1946, the family was battered by war and the establishment of the stalinist communist dictatorship on all forms of art. Danuta fled soviet poland at night, alone, penniless and in incredible conditions. She moved to paris and completed her studies at the ecole nationale des arts et métiers. In 1948, danuta joined his uncle, the last consul of free poland, on the island of madagascar, then a french colony. She met and then married the bigouden yann le hénaff, a secret service officer in the french army. After her marriage, danuta le hénaff deployed her activity by creating a malagasy ceramic art that met with immediate success throughout the world. In 1965, at the independence of madagascar, danuta and yann le hénaff left for brittany and settled in larmor-plage. She adapts her palette, patterns and shapes to the breton taste and creates the "blue le hénaff".
