Description
Here is a curious italian bench in carved wood responding to all the codes of neoclassicism of the late eighteenth century. Its shape is not common in france but is nevertheless regularly found in italy, austria and england of the eighteenth century. Low and comfortable, the seat hides a lockable trunk. The armrests are wide windings of carved and gilded wood, adorned with greasy and beautifully carved acanthus leaves. The refinement of this all-sided bench goes so far as to present, under the windings, other leaves of acanthus in gilded wood, very well treated. Unique and atypical bench in very good condition. A few stains on the pale yellow corduroy fabric.
