Black "Callimaco" Floor Lamp by Ettorre Sottsass for Artemide, 1982

The "callimaco" floor lamp was designed by ettore sottsass for artemide in 1982. This memphis piece is called a “horn of light” because it resembles an oversized musical instrument. The base is a conical black-painted steel which could be the “bell” of a giant trumpet. The design continues with a black-painted aluminium stem, a polished chrome handle and ends with a black-painted steel diffuser. Signed artemide/ callimaco/ etorre sottsass jr/italy.
