Large portable farm table with oak slats, Circa 30's/40's

Fantastic slatted farmhouse bench/coffee table, circa 30-40. This piece comes from a farm in the southwest of france. It is made of solid oak, and was handcrafted, and used, like a portable work table, (also called a "pig bench"), for the purpose of transporting large pieces with 2 people. The center section has slats (see photos.). The piece has specific design features, like long sculpted handles for easy grip l (see photos.); on one side of the piece 2 thin slots, to insert tools (see photos). The entire slatted section in the middle is held in place by an old-fashioned system. Mortise and tenon assembly system (without screws or nails), further adding to its charm (see photos.) the piece is in good condition, original and vintage, it has been restored. High pressure cleaning, a long natural drying in the air, then nourishing the wood with several layers of oil, to regain the natural, warm and rich color of the oak, then waxed, giving it a nice subtle shine, in the respect for the original patina. A spacer was replaced and remade to the original. There are of course marks, signs of age and previous use proportionate to time and because it was a piece to work with, as well as a patina of time, on the entire structure (see photos.).the 4 legs are not completely aligned to give flexibility to the top when loaded, it is solid and robust. It could be used as a bench in an entrance or entrance hall, for a contemporary rustic decor as a luggage rack or bench for the end of a bed, or even as a decor in a restaurant. It can easily be adapted into a coffee table, by placing a glass on the slats. All photos are taken outdoors, so colors may vary depending on brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
