The buildings were erected on the site of the previously existing wood pulp and pine bath plant. The glassworks originally belonged to the polanica-zdrój health resort and produced 0.33-litre bottles for mineral water. On april 1, 1974, it was taken over by the "sudety" glassworks and, after reconstruction, from december 1974. Launched production as artistic glassworks "barbara". From the same year, zbigniew horbowy was associated with it, working there as an artistic director. A design studio was created, creating short series of utility glass. The team of the studio included: lucyna pijaczewska, ludwik ferenc, kazimierz krawczyk and czesław zuber. From 1992, the steelworks functioned as a private one, executing mainly orders from foreign customers. The "barbara" steelworks operated until 2018, when the plant was liquidated. Designers associated with the steelworks: ludwik ferenc,  zbigniew horbowy, kazimierz krawczyk, lucyna pijaczewska and czesław zuber.
