Superb large vintage coat rack in curved wood identical to the no 4 model of thonet 1890s, but without signature hence my formulation and the price  This self-supporting piece of furniture has an arch-shaped frame with curved hooks on each side and a small drawer. This rather rare version is the big brother of the classic parrot model that we still find in traditional bistros. Michael thonet (born 1796) was a german-austrian cabinetmaker and industrialist. He uses a process to bend wood, and is one of the first to have rationalized production to orient it towards industry. His chair no. 14 became a true bestseller and an icon of industrial furniture design. Sold more than 50 million copies, it continues to establish itself today as the bistro chair of reference.
