Very fine and detailed watercolor mid-20th. Period framed in gilded wood 55x45. Signature pierre chapuis, impressionist painter listed on the benezit dictionary. Pierre chapuis. Painter born in paris in 1863, died in 1942. Painter of landscapes and genre scenes. Very gifted for drawing, he was apprenticed to decorators. He participated in the main parisian salons, notably that of the société nationale des beaux-arts from 1906, the salon d'automne in 1907 and the salon des indépendants until his death. Famous, at the time, for his theater sets, he is better known, thereafter, for the finesse of tones of his watercolors of landscapes of trouville, deauville, . In 1912 he moved to saint-leu-la-forêt, where he devoted himself entirely to painting, inspired by neo-impressionism.
