Magnificent Art Deco bedside table in walnut, dating from the 1920s-1930s, featuring a marble top, a drawer, a shelf, and a closed storage compartment, all showcasing the characteristic design and sculptures of that era. Although more imposing than an ordinary bedside table, it retains a certain lightness and elegance thanks to its clean lines, decorative fins on the side panels, and curved legs (see photos). The piece offers ample storage space: a clean and fully functional drawer, a middle shelf, and a lower compartment closed by a drop-down door (opening downwards and closing upwards, like a secretary) also in perfect working order (see photos). The top is made of black and white marble veined with grey, creating a perfect harmony with the rich tones of the wood (see photos). The drawer and lower compartment are fitted with their original spherical chrome knobs, typical of the style of the time (see photos). The front of the drawer and the lower door feature stunning hand-carved patterns. The piece rests on beautiful curved legs. The whole is in good original (vintage) condition, showing normal signs of use and age for a piece nearly a century old: slight marks, areas of discolouration, general patina on the structure, marble, interior (drawer and compartment), hardware, side panels, and legs (see photos). The marble has some old signs of use (see photos with a one-cent coin for perspective) on the back edge as well as on the upper right part (see photos with a one-cent coin for scale). The marble has been polished by a professional stonemason. All photos were taken in natural outdoor light; colours may therefore vary depending on brightness and reflections of the stone.
