Engraving by Morozov

A priori, three colors for this aquatint (etching process): on a background of sepia and bluish gray wash that poses the areas of shadow and light, the feather line, intense black, over-thick, builds this picturesque scene. The faces and hands of the two friends, their attitudes, the décor are treated with vigour and decision. We will not tire of the many details sketched with accuracy and the graphic harmony of this "snapshot". The freckles in the side margins seem to be due to the printing technique. Sober dark oak frame with gilded inner rim to the leaf. Slight ripple of the paper (yes, it's not new), a small poque on the frame.
