The tom dixon “jack-light” is the original seated, stackable, illuminating, table, thing designed for eurolounge in 1997. An award-winning multi-purpose object that was one of tom’s first experiments with plastic. The shape is more than a sculptural, freestanding lamp. They are reminiscent of 1960s pop furniture. It was originally intended as a lamp and it was only during the design process that they realized the material and shape were strong enough to sit on. In 1994, tom dixon founded the company eurolounge as a platform for his new work with plastics. The “jack light” was the first product launched by eurolounge. A nightclub in germany was decorated with seventy phosphorescent jack lamps. The jack lamp won the millennium mark award for great british design in 1997. Condition: good. Material: hard-wearing polyethylene. Color: blue. Dimensions: h X w X d = 53 X 60 X 60 cm. Leaf diameter: 70 cm. Tom dixon is one of britain’s most innovative and adventurous designers.
