Pumpkin armchair by Pierre Paulin in light orange velvet (collection Ligne Roset 2018). Condition: as good as new. First public edition of the salon designed in 1971 for the private apartments of claude and Georges Pompidou at the Palais de l'Élysée, pumpkin is characteristic of Pierre Paulin's revolutionary style that he initiated in the late 1950s. Formally, pumpkin evokes a giant pumpkin that offers a protective and voluptuous shell to its user.
