Fish Dinnerware Set. Four Fish Plates and Fish Platter. Porcelain Fish Plate Set

A fish dinnerware set, consisting of four fish dinner plates and an oval fish platter. Vintage white plates, with a tactile, fluted, "ribbed" edge border and five different fish designs. All these plates are marked "fabrique charlemagne, porcelaine fine, depuis 1883" on the undersides. The oval platter measures 36cms/ 14" long X 23.5cms/ 9¼" wide. It is deep sided too, 4cms/ 1½", so that the fish can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage. It has the most detailed illustration of two trout swimming. The colours are muted, subtle greens and grey/blues. The fish are accurately represented, with spots and 'hints' of pink and yellow on the undersides. The fins and tails of the fish have been 'picked out' in fine detail. The four plates measure 23.5cms/9¼" diameter. Each plates is illustrated with a different pair of freshwater fish. All all in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They may have the faintest beginnings of "hairline crackle" to the glazes, and a microscopic amount of "wear" to the motifs, which is to be expected with the age of these plates, and in no way detracts from the beauty or quality of this beautiful plate set. They have many years of service yet to offer. Et voilà!.
