Large carved wooden screen. Late 19th/early 20th century. Transition Art Nouveau. Everything is entirely period, with no restoration carried out. It measures 177.5 cm high and 217.5 cm wide when all the panels are aligned. The hinges are brass and allow for easy articulation of the 5 panels. The fabric is also period. It is fairly well preserved at the front but more "worn" at the back. The wooden structure is topped with carved pediments that can be easily removed if you prefer a more understated screen. In this case, only the small balls remain (see photo). Ideal as a room divider or (as is common today) as a headboard. It is a family piece that comes from my grandparents. My grandmother cherished it (she would have been 100 years old). Her parents bought it in the 1930s to create an intimate space in their Paris apartment. I hesitated to have it restored, but I am convinced that the right solution is to let the buyer make their choice. I obtained a quote from a professional (everything included except for the fabric supply) which confirms its overall good condition. Normal wear for a piece over 125 years old, presumably... the screen weighs 12 kg as it is. To be collected or transport to be arranged, preferably by Cocolis as it is a fragile piece of furniture. It is a very beautiful and quite unique item. To be collected on site (44250) or delivery via Cocolis.
