Chippendale Chair

Old chippendale style chair. It dates from the beginning of the 20th century. Openwork file with baroque decorations. Curved feet at the front with lion's feet. It is functional, stable and strong. The seat is wide, deep and comfortable. Its solid wood structure is original. Its base is more recent. The fabric has some stains (see close-up photos). Thomas chippendale (1718-1779) was a cabinetmaker and furniture manufacturer who left a lasting mark on the style of eighteenth-century english furniture. He designed and manufactured furniture inspired by the french rockery, gothic ornaments of the middle ages and interpretations of "chinese", for a very art deco result in the end.
