"Rudolf Uffrecht, whose full name is Rudolph August Heinrich Matthias Uffrecht, was born on 9 July 1840 in Althaldensleben near Magdeburg and died on 13 November 1906 in Berlin, and was a German sculptor and painter. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1855, where he was taught by Bernhard Afinger, a close friend of Jakob Uffrecht, Rudolf's father. Rudolf Uffrecht's early works as a sculptor include clay portrait busts and fanciful statuettes. His father founded a ceramic factory in Haldensleben that commercially produced Rudolf's works, among others. He received a first prize for his terracotta at the exhibitions in Stettin (now Szczecin) (1862), and then in Leipzig (1869). A few years later, he moved to Rome, where he worked as a sculptor and painter. He was prolific, creating statuettes of Romeo and Juliet, great German composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Haydn, and Bach, as well as figures of Dante, Michelangelo, and Raphael, along with portraits of the Prince of Prussia, Prince Otto von Bismarck, and General Moltke. He died in 1906.".
