Chinese vase decorated with peonies and birds – 20th century

Superb vase featuring a rich decoration of blooming peonies, birds, and vegetation on a deep blue background. The particularly refined composition is inspired by the great themes of Chinese decorative art, where the peony, a symbol of prosperity and abundance, coexists with brightly coloured birds in a lush landscape. The whole is enhanced by delicate geometric and floral borders as well as by mounts in gilded brass. The interior is entirely enamelled in a bright turquoise blue, characteristic of the fine cloisonné productions of the early 20th century.
