Verner Panton "275 S" Chair for A. Sommer / Thonet
The iconic 275 S chair designed by Verner Panton in the 1950s and produced by A. Sommer for Thonet in the 1960s. Crafted from a single piece of 14-layer moulded plywood, its distinctive S-shaped silhouette represents an important milestone in modern furniture design. The chair was an early exploration of Panton's vision for a continuous, freestanding seat, which he later developed further with his famous Panton Chair. Visible signs of age and use throughout, including surface scratches, scuff marks and areas of chipped black lacquer. More pronounced wear and finish loss can be seen along the edges and curved sections of the chair.
