Decorative plate Moustiers animal and floral décor

White earthenware plate of moustiers ste marie, the historic cradle of traditional earthenware in the mediterranean basin. Famous for its bright white enamel and hand-crafted blue cameo decorations, moustiers' earthenware is the ceramics of excellence of the 18th and 19th centuries. Created by pierre clérissy, the first earthenware factory of moustiers was created around 1679. Almost sixty years later, joseph olérys developed polychromy and "bérain"-like decorations. The earthenware of mousties is characterized by its medallions, garlands, grotesques and bouquets of flowers. This 25 cm diameter plate is in excellent condition. Its light blue festoon and animal and floral décor are obviously hand-executed. It is signed on the back by the craftsman (i could say the artist!) in: dvx moustiers with iinitiales. Hanging holes are provided to expose it on your wall. Careful mailing.
