Giuseppe Manfredi (Seravezza, Lucca, 1934 - Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, 1987) Oil on canvas panel representing a marina, original work signed and dated 1972. Dimensions of the painting: 70 X 50 cm; dimensions of the frame: 98 X 78 cm. For safety reasons, the work is shipped without glass. Giuseppe Manfredi's research focused on the genre of still life, and his pictorial style is reminiscent of Morandi. Like the great Bolognese master, Manfredi seeks to capture the essence of things (the noumenon) on the canvas, without straying from sensory reality (the phenomenon). Thus, he engages in profound reflection on objects to obtain the most vivid image. In this process, the painter is guided by the light bathing the composition, which leads him to reduce objects to their very essence. The result is an almost diaphanous image, yet one of exceptional vitality and dynamism, permeated with true existential (and luminous) vibrations. The formal perfection and balance of the composition are another fundamental element, falling within the great tradition of Italian painting.
