Italian earthenware tray with four white fruits

Period: ca. 1950-1970. This white and blue earthenware top is filled with white glazed ceramic fruits. The four fruits consist of a banana, an artichoke, a pomegranate and a beef heart tomato; the pomegranate and tomato are particularly well detailed. The fruits all have a small, inconspicuous hole (to let the steam out when cooking). The top has short ruffled edges with a round decorative floral pattern on the outer sides; the interior has a pale blue color while the exterior is white. The bottom has felt protection and illegible signature. The fruits are all signed with "italy f102". Status: good. Fruits in perfect condition. Tray has a frosting defect on one side; it is not a crack that runs through the body, but a crack in the white glaze only (probably due to firing). Dimensions: 4.5 cm high, 28 X 20.5 cm base, total weight with fruit is 2.3 kg.
