A beautiful Art Deco stool or footrest, dating from around 1925. Made by Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Vienna / Austria. The stool features an elegant round shape and impresses especially with its well-preserved condition. It is still covered with the original fabric, which remains in excellent condition — clean and with barely any signs of wear. It is assumed that this stool may have never been used, making it a particularly rare piece of furniture in museum condition. The stool is marked on the underside: Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Wien, IX, Währinger Straße 28 Numbered: 11859. Friedrich Otto Schmidt was a renowned Viennese company specialising in high-quality interior furnishings, notable for its collaborations with leading artists and architect Adolf Loos. The company is a key representative of Viennese modernism, and their furniture pieces are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship and timeless design.
