Ceramic bonbonniere in New Look style, likely produced by Ćmielów in Poland in the 1960s, presents a low, rounded shape with a gently convex lid. Made of ceramic in a warm, cream shade of ivory, it is covered with a glossy glaze. The surface features hand-painted botanical and floral motifs in muted shades of pink, green, brown, and black, with thin contours and subtle shading, arranged asymmetrically in the spirit of the era. The edge is adorned with a narrow gold band, worn and faded in places. The surface of the bonbonniere shows a network of fine glaze cracks (crazing) and local discolorations, highlighting its age. Overall, it is in very good condition, with no significant damage – visible natural signs of patina and usage typical for vintage ceramics. This bonbonniere carries the voice of former salons and bedrooms, where everyday rituals were wrapped in care for detail. The flowing lines of the form and leisurely rhythm of the Art Nouveau motifs evoke the atmosphere of the early 20th century – a time when objects served not only a function but also the senses. The golden band on the edge seems to shimmer with the light of past decades, and the crazing on the glaze tells the story of time passing, preserving echoes of former conversations and gestures. This object quietly reminds us of the ritual of storing small treasures, notes, or jewelry – with respect for everyday life. The bonbonniere would fit perfectly on a dresser or console in the living room, where it can serve as a subtle accent against wood or marble. It can be paired with other decorative porcelain or glass items from the era, as well as in the company of potted plants and textiles with a natural texture. Collectible interiors in the spirit of Art Nouveau, as well as spaces combining different decades, will gain harmony if the bonbonniere is combined with a mirror with a wavy frame or a lamp of milky glass, creating a coherent, unintrusive composition.
