Pair of Empire period armchairs, made of mahogany, featuring a straight and refined architecture characteristic of neoclassical taste. The slightly reclined rectangular backs and the crossbars are adorned with applied motifs in gilded bronze, including leaf and palmette ornaments. The armrests, with powerful and slightly curved lines, rest on sculpted supports. The belt also receives a rich decoration of gilded bronze. The armchairs stand on four tapered legs, with the front ones ending in small sculpted claw feet, another typical element of the decorative vocabulary inspired by Antiquity. The seats and backs are upholstered in ivory damask fabric, secured by a row of decorative brass nails. A decorative and elegant pair, particularly suited for an office, a library, or a classic interior. Style: Empire / neoclassical. Probable period: 19th century. Material: mahogany, gilded bronze, fabric. Condition: Good overall condition, with signs of wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions of each armchair: Height: 92 cm. Width: 58 cm. Depth: 53 cm.
