Large Beni Ouarain rug, 280 x 190 cm - G1050

A beautifully understated Beni Ouarain rug, handwoven in Morocco from natural sheep wool. This piece explores the classic language of diamonds associated with Beni Ouarain weaving in an unusually subtle way: instead of contrasting dark lines, the geometric pattern is created tone on tone in warm ivory and soft beige. The result is calm, architectural, and very tactile — a rug where the design gradually reveals itself through changes in pile, texture, light, and shadow. Each rug is handwoven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans, made from 100% natural sheep wool, woven on a traditional Berber loom, individually knotted and finished by hand, crafted according to traditional Moroccan weaving techniques, and unique, with the small irregularities characteristic of true handmade work. No mass production — only authentic Berber craftsmanship. Sophisticated natural palette: warm ivory, natural cream, soft sand beige, subtle oat tones. Very little colour contrast, the geometric design is defined by different pile heights and weaving textures, giving the rug depth without disturbing its calm monochromatic appearance. The composition features a large lattice of interlocking diamonds, one of the most recognisable geometric languages in Moroccan Berber weaving. Here, the pattern has been reduced almost to its essence. The absence of black or strongly coloured outlines makes the diamonds softer and more contemporary, while the hand-drawn lines retain the organic irregularity that distinguishes a handmade rug from a mechanically produced one. The close-up particularly shows the richness of the natural wool: dense, soft, and slightly irregular, with subtle tonal variations that become more visible as the light changes.
