He is known to possess great technical mastery, while remaining in a classical style. He participated in many salons, including the famous salon d'automne of 1905 where the word "fauvism" was invented. This word derives from a joke of the critic louis vauxcelles, pronounced on the occasion of this salon. In the middle of the room where the works of matisse and his friends were gathered, stands a statuette of albert marque in the style of the italian renaissance; vauxcelles exclaimed: "donatello among the wild beasts!" Marque presents its works both in france and abroad, as evidenced by the sculpted portrait of marthe lebasque, unveiled to the public at the exposition de la libre esthétique in brussels in 1909. In 1915, jeanne margaine-lacroix entrusted albert marque with the design of a doll that would become very famous. He is inspired by the silhouette and expression of a little girl. The head and body are made by the manufacture de sèvres directly from the sculptures of albert marque. It is present at the centre pompidou in paris and at the museum of grenoble in particular.
