Vintage replica from the inah museum of a traditional mexican sculpture (colima culture) of a pair of dancing coyotes in brown ochre glazed terracotta. The piece has minor traces of time (see all photos for more details). Height 27 cm X width 20 cm these creatures represent two colima coyotes, xoloitzcuintli or mexican hairless dogs, in a dancing (or fighting) position. This sculpture is part of the shaft tomb culture of western mexico (nayarit, jalisco, colima) between 200 bc and 500 ad. A wide variety of ceramic objects were produced in distinctive local styles, including coyote figurines. One of the most prominent figures of the dancing coyote is a 3 meter high sculpture located on a ring road in the city of colima, attributed to the mexican artisan guillermo ríos alcalá.
