When the Senate refurbished one of its exceptional pieces of furniture, it removed its small plaque to archive it. However, on the back of our writing desk, we can still see the location of the plaque and the engraved serial number: 1511. This number is also engraved in the drawer uprights. It's a writing desk imitating a seven-drawer chest, made of solid mahogany, with a gleaming period varnish and meticulous finishing. It opens with five drawers with rods and pull handles. The locks all work (the one on the first floor has been replaced with an old one). The brass handles, simple and discreet, are refined. There aren't five drawers... But six, with the secret drawer! Built into the lower plinth, it can be seen by running your hand underneath, by touching the pull notch. A joy. As for the central drawers, they can be pulled out with a single finger, the mechanism is so perfect... Then a brass button is revealed that must be pressed to release the front, which, when lowered, reveals a magnificent dark mahogany amphitheater. The top is covered in black morocco leather in superb condition. This is also a notable feature of this piece: it is in superb condition. No missing parts, no notable defects aside from normal wear. We also appreciate the details, such as the small mahogany tops that fit into the sides, inside the drawers, to lock them when opening and prevent them from falling out. As for the depth and brightness of the original patina, I'll leave that to the photos. An imperial splendor from the collections of a prestigious institution. H: 152 cm. W: 89 cm. D: 43 cm. Unfolded tabletop size: 45 cm. Seat height: 76 cm. The price is fixed, thank you. Delivery available to UDF and ground floor areas for 40 euros.
