A 1970s italian display unit in the manner of romeo rega or renato zevi, in a unique and large octagonal shape. The organic curves of the brass-plated frame support several clear glass shelves, perfect for displaying your collections of objects. The base is composed of two pieces of rectangular black lacquered wood, with curved edges and a brass trim. The piece is finished with a light on the top in the centre. Originally imported from a private estate in the south of france, this elegant display unit was produced during the hollywood regency period of the seventies. This piece was originally designed to fit a hi-fi system – with spaces for records at the bottom, speakers on the sides, and an amplifier in the middle – and would have been the centre-piece to what we would know today as a cinema room. The display separates into five pieces: two bases; and the three shelving units, the split of which you can make out from the pictures. Overall this unit is in a really good, sturdy condition. It has the occasional bit of wear, which is normal for a piece over fifty years old, but there is nothing major or too distracting. This is a real statement shelving unit, but it is modern and sleek enough to work in newer interiors too. Creator: unknown. Place of origin: italy. Date of manufacture: c. 1970's. Period: 1970 - 1979. Materials & techniques: brass, glass, lacquered wood. Condition: good original condition. Wear: wear consistent with age and use. Minor scratches, patina, or discolouration as is to be expected. Height: 180cm|70.8in. Width: 240cm|94.4in. Depth: 50cm|19.6in.
