Ancient stoneware pottery from Alsace

Set of 4 pottery pieces from the town of Betschdorf in Alsace. These are traditional objects with a typical style from this region and the late 19th century. Very sturdy, these pottery pieces were used in the kitchen to hold salt, oil, and other condiments. These ceramics were decorated in a unique colour, blue, which is resistant to the very high temperatures of the kilns. They were also covered in salt that transformed into a sort of glaze during firing, making them watertight. Both decorative and useful for an authentic and charming kitchen decor.
