Metal box in the shape of a planter. Formerly an olibet paris cake box. Jean-honoré olibet (1817-1891) settled in the saint-pierre district of bordeaux around 1840, and began an artisanal production of dry biscuits. These snacks were then very popular with sailors, due to their ability to last a long time. But the young entrepreneur also begins to produce fancy biscuits, in order to satisfy bourgeois consumption. A few years later, jean-honoré's son, eugène (1844-1915), came to lend him a hand. Following a year's stay in the united kingdom around 1860, he persuaded his father to import manufacturing equipment, notably the chain kiln, commonly known as the "english kiln". This is how olibet 'jeune & fils' benefited from a pioneering position and quickly covered the french market by marketing a wide range of biscuits with an 'absolutely inimitable' taste... A little oxidation giving a patina... Dimensions 24 x9 cm height 11 cm weight 230 grs.
