Pair of Vintage Space Age Red Armchairs 1970

Superb pair of vintage cabriolet armchairs from the 1970s, made in France (MADE IN FRANCE stamped under the shell with patent number). A striking Pop Art design with their glossy red shell and geometric black metal base. These armchairs reflect the aesthetics of design icons from the 1950s to the 1970s: the shape of the shell with integrated armrests recalls the legendary RAR / DAR / DAW chair by Charles & Ray Eames (produced by Vitra / Herman Miller). The base, reinforced with crossbars, is inspired by the "Eiffel Tower" structure of the Eames as well as the polypropylene chairs by Robin Day (for Hille) or creations by Marc Held for Prisunic. Monobloc shell made of bright red rigid moulded plastic, base in black lacquered steel. Very comfortable enveloping seat with moulded reinforcements under the shell. Perfect as end-of-table chairs, office chairs, or in a retro veranda/living room. Good vintage condition. Glossy plastic with signs of use. Solid and stable black base.
