Pair of vintage French bentwood bistro chairs by Baumann circa 1950s/60s. Both chairs are made of beech, with beautiful bentwood details and legs. The chair on the right, with the two horizontal slats, is chair #89 in the Baumann catalogue. The chair on the left, without the back slats, is chair #54, in the Baumann catalogue. Both chairs are structurally identical. The only difference, is that chair #54 (left), has no slats on the back, and the maximum width of the upper back measures 40 cm, compared to 38 cm for the other chair, #89 (right). Everything else, from the height of the chairs, the width and height of the seats and the depth of the chairs, is the same. The chairs are in good, original and vintage condition overall, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as you would expect for bistro chairs of this age, throughout the frames, seats and legs, and a patina of age and time, with some areas of slightly faded colour (see photos.) small marks of use to the right side of the seat edge of the left chair (see photo), and a mark of use to the curved wood on the same side, of the same chair (see photo.) both chairs are solid and stable and bear the makers mark (see photo.) all photos are taken in natural outdoor light, so colours may vary depending on the lighting, angles and perspective from which they are viewed. Dimensions of the left chair: height: 78 cm width: 40 cm depth: 43 cm seat height: 46.5 cm dimensions of the right chair: height: 78 cm width: 38 cm depth: 43 cm seat height: 46.5 cm.
