Date: ca. 1st half 20th century the ornate gilded wooden frame is rococo style. The white plate looks like bisque porcelain, but is reconstituted alabaster powder. The color is not bright white, but has a slight yellow-cream tint. The relief scene shows two ladies dressed in togas (perhaps diana and venus) adoring a cherub positioned on a pedestal (perhaps cupid). Details of faces, hands, drapery, etc. Are exquisite. It appears that this type of alabaster powder plaque, with ornate gilt frame, was made in the uk from the late 19th century (biggs & sons) but also in france from the early to mid 20th century. Condition: very good. No damage. All details are intact. Difficult to remove dust/dirt in the crevices especially in the leaves of the tree in the upper right corner. The frames have pre-made holes in all four corners, this is no damage. Dimensions: 27.3 cm high, 22.5 cm wide, 6 cm deep, 1.3 kg.
