Cup "Noémie" Val Saint Lambert – Art Deco, handcrafted painting

Superb fruit bowl or centrepiece "Noémie" from the Belgian manufacture Val Saint Lambert, made around 1930, during the Art Deco period. The bowl features an elegant oval shape resting on a circular pedestal, framed by two large geometric handles with very structured lines. Its wall is animated by vertically moulded ribs, characteristic of the geometric vocabulary of Art Deco. This piece is particularly distinguished by its hand-painted decoration, which gives it a unique personality and decorative character. The vertical reliefs are highlighted with coloured lines in black, orange, and gold, while the inner background and pedestal feature a stylised polychrome floral decoration, evoking autumn leaves and berries. The combination of transparent glass, bright turquoise blue, and the various shades of the decoration creates a particularly graphic contrast, typical of the Art Deco aesthetic. The "Noémie" model is emblematic of Val Saint Lambert's moulded glass production from this period. This hand-decorated version stands out from more common examples that simply feature a uniform glass colour. Overall good condition considering its age. The hand-painted decoration shows some small scratches and signs of wear in places. However, the decoration remains very well preserved overall and retains all its visual richness. These slight marks should be taken into account and testify to the age and fragility of this painted decoration.
