Silver plated serving dish, christofle goldsmith, (balance cc hallmark between 1904 and 1935). Sage condition with scratches and dents, but remains charming and a little piece of history. Indeed, the hôtel des anglais is one of the first large luxury hotels built in paris-plage at the beginning of the 20th century. The hôtel des anglais was built in 1904 for mr. Tanqueray. It is located on avenue des troènes, chemin de l'ancien tir aux pigeons, for a mainly british clientele who preferred to reside in the forest. History: when it opened, it had 52 rooms. In 1907, it was enlarged by a wing building: it then had 250 rooms and 200 bathrooms. In 1919, the hotel was the first to reopen after the first world war. In 1930, the hotel was modernized and enlarged by 120 new rooms. The architects pierre drobecq and louis debrouwer were involved in its expansion, as shown in postcards from the period. Destruction: on june 2, 1944, the hotel was bombed; it was completely destroyed after burning for 48 hours; it was demolished in 1956 and was never rebuilt. Dimensions: d 26.5 cm, l 35 cm, h 2 cm, weight 818 grams. P168.
