Description
Pair of ceramic candlesticks by ceramist Paul Artus. A word about the artist: He left the Font-Carrade school, created his workshop after his first productions in 1947. Very young he showed a real talent for drawing, he also worked as a decorative painter until 1940. In 1940, there was war and captivity...prisoner, he continued, driven by an unshakeable faith, with ingenious means, to create paintings. Upon liberation, on November 27, 1945, he exhibited some of his paintings produced in captivity at the Favier gallery. Critics of the time said that "these landscapes and his watercolors, sensitive to the finesse of color, reflect the impression gray of a foreign land. And yet, this same critic will say that she sees the emergence in p. Artus something new which is characterized by enthusiasm, joy of life. The expression of this behavior will be found in the creation of earthenware. He will draw frescoes on these earthenware, with much more light and momentum to carry out the first decorations on old Montpellier. Paul artus will thus draw on painting to showcase his talent as a ceramist.
