Small earthenware dish with rooster decoration – Portugal, hand-painted

The famous Galo de Barcelos (the rooster is a great Portuguese symbol), often available in colored earthenware with this charming little rectangular earthenware dish. Decorated with a blue rooster in the center, surrounded by hand-painted stylized floral motifs, its vibrant palette – cobalt blue, yellow, red and green – recalls the famous traditional Portuguese earthenware, where the rooster is a symbol of luck and conviviality. With its small handles, it is perfect for presenting olives, tapas, dried fruits or sweets at aperitif time, but also as a cheerful decorative element in a kitchen.
