Alabaster Bust Statue signed A. Frilli for the famous Antonio Frilli, born in 1860 and died in 1902, Florentine sculptor working in white marble and alabaster. This sculpture of a little girl peeling an orange shines with the mischief and joy of life expressed by the child. Signed and dated 1901 on the back Exceptional condition for the time, a fine and very discreet hair at the back of the hat and probable gaps in the serrations of the hat which have patinated and are difficult to perceive (see photos) Dimensions: height 30cm, width 24cm, and depth 19cm Weight: 7.3kg In 1904, two years after the sculptor's death, his son Umberto participated in the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri, where one of his father's works , a white Carrara marble sculpture, Woman on a Hammock, won the Grand Prize and six gold medals.
